Optimize MultiCharts with Ultra-Low Latency VPS
MultiCharts is the platform traders graduate to when TradeStation's broker lock-in or NinjaTrader's single-broker model stops fitting: PowerLanguage runs most EasyLanguage code unchanged, the .NET edition opens the door to C#, and portfolio backtesting will happily saturate every CPU core you give it — which shapes what the right VPS looks like.

Why Choose AlgoVPS for MultiCharts?
Our infrastructure is specifically optimized for Futures trading, providing you with the competitive edge you need to succeed.
All 16 Cores Put to Work
MultiCharts parallelizes optimization and portfolio backtesting across cores — a 16-core Ryzen 9950X Flow plan turns overnight walk-forward runs into lunch-break runs
EasyLanguage Code, No Rewrite
PowerLanguage compiles most TradeStation EasyLanguage strategies as-is, so migrating automation to a broker-neutral setup doesn't mean rewriting your library
MultiCharts .NET for C# Strategies
The .NET edition runs C# and VB.NET strategies with full Visual Studio debugging — the VPS hosts both platform and development environment in one place
Broker- and Feed-Neutral
Pair IQFeed, Rithmic, CQG, or Interactive Brokers data with any supported execution broker; the VPS keeps all of them on optimized Chicago routes
Chicago Placement for Futures Execution
Automated strategies on CME products execute from 427 S La Salle with sub-millisecond routes to Rithmic and CQG order gateways
Unattended Automation, Managed OS
Auto-start configuration, workspace persistence, and Windows update windows managed around your trading sessions so strategies run genuinely hands-off

MultiCharts on a VPS: Automation, Backtesting, and the License Question
MultiCharts attracts a specific kind of trader: someone with a strategy library in EasyLanguage or C#, a preference for choosing their own broker and data feed, and backtesting habits heavy enough to melt a laptop. All three traits point at the same infrastructure — a fast multi-core Windows server that stays up around the clock. Here is how to set that up properly, including the licensing and pricing details people ask us about most.
From TradeStation to MultiCharts Without Rewriting Your Strategies
MultiCharts' PowerLanguage is deliberately EasyLanguage-compatible: the bulk of TradeStation strategies, functions, and indicators compile in MultiCharts with no changes, and most of the rest need only minor edits around broker-specific keywords. That compatibility is the usual migration path — traders keep years of EasyLanguage work while gaining the freedom to pair any supported data feed (IQFeed, Rithmic, CQG, dxFeed) with any supported execution broker.
The .NET edition is the other on-ramp. MultiCharts .NET exposes the same engine to C# and VB.NET, which means real IDE tooling: Visual Studio debugging, unit tests around signal logic, NuGet libraries for anything from math to messaging. On a VPS this works particularly well — the server hosts MultiCharts, your Visual Studio or VS Code install, and the strategy DLLs together, so you develop, backtest, and deploy in one environment instead of copying builds between machines.
What MultiCharts Licenses Cost (and What the Tiers Mean)
MultiCharts sells two license lines. The standard MultiCharts license covers charting, PowerLanguage automation, and backtesting on a set number of data series; the higher tier (marketed over the years as Pro/Premium/unlimited) removes symbol-count limits and adds features aimed at portfolio traders. Both are sold as lifetime licenses (a one-time purchase in the low four figures for the standard tier, more for unlimited) or as monthly/quarterly/annual subscriptions that work out cheaper if you're evaluating and more expensive if you stay for years. MultiCharts .NET is licensed separately on the same pattern.
Two practical notes. First, prices and tier names change — MultiCharts runs frequent promotions, and published numbers move, so treat any figure you read on a forum (or here) as approximate and check multicharts.com for current pricing before budgeting. Second, the license is tied to your account, not your hardware: running MultiCharts on a VPS uses the same license as your desktop, and moving to a new server is a sign-in, not a repurchase. The free 30-day trial also runs fine on a VPS, which is the cheapest way to test your full setup — feed, broker, strategies — before committing.
Backtesting Is Where the Cores Go
MultiCharts' optimizer and portfolio backtester are among the few retail trading tools that genuinely scale across CPU cores: a genetic optimization or multi-symbol walk-forward run splits work across every core available. This inverts the usual VPS sizing logic. A strategy that trades live all day is light — it needs one fast core and a stable connection. The same strategy in research mode wants all sixteen.
Our sizing guidance: Swing (4 cores, 10GB, $45/mo) fits live execution of a few automated strategies with a single data feed. Momentum (8 cores, 20GB, $85/mo) is the sweet spot for traders who optimize weekly and run a moderate portfolio live. Flow (16 cores, 40GB, 300GB NVMe Gen5, $175/mo) is for heavy research: full-portfolio walk-forwards, genetic optimization over years of intraday data, and tick-level backtests — where the difference between 4 and 16 Ryzen 9950X cores is measured in hours per run. Tick data also eats disk; the 300GB tier exists for exactly this.
Running Automated Strategies Unattended
The point of automating in MultiCharts is that execution happens without you. That requires the boring parts to be right: MultiCharts set to launch at Windows startup with your workspace, auto-trading re-enabled per the platform's safety design (MultiCharts intentionally requires confirmation to resume live automation after a restart — build that into your morning routine), and OS patching scheduled around your sessions rather than through them.
From our Chicago facility at 427 S La Salle, strategy orders on CME products reach Rithmic and CQG gateways in under a millisecond, and IQFeed's Chicago-area infrastructure is similarly close — eliminating the feed-to-signal-to-order latency stack a residential connection adds. Our install guide below walks the full setup end to end.
